WorldNetDaily (and Newsmax) columnist Laura Hollis does her best to stay on point with her pro-Trump narrative -- even if that pulls her into rote right-wing groupthink.
Laura Hollis’ WorldNetDaily columns are largely your standard Trump Regime Media claptrap. Some examples include:
Hollis is a fan of vaccine trutherism and Capitol riot trutherism as well. She wrote in a January 2025 column:
President Donald Trump is hitting the ground running, having signed more than two dozen executive orders and memoranda since his inauguration on Monday.
The subject matter of Trump’s executive orders largely mirrors the issues he ran on during his campaign, including declaring a national emergency at the nation’s southern border and sending the U.S. military to secure it; designating drug cartels to be “terrorist organizations,” withdrawing from the Paris environmental accords and from the World Health Organization, and protecting Americans’ freedom of speech from federal censorship.
The latter order explicitly attacks actions taken by the Biden administration – often in tandem with social media companies – to silence Americans who were critical of government policies or who dared to question the “official” narrative on issues like election fraud in 2020, the origins of COVID-19, effectiveness of the mRNA vaccines, and risks to human life and health from those inoculations; and the causes of violence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

– Did the J6 select committee hide or destroy evidence tending to exonerate Trump, or did they intimidate or solicit false testimony from witnesses?
– Did then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi prevent the National Guard from being at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021?
– Were there federal agents, antifa operatives or other actors inciting violence on Jan. 6, 2021? If so, who ordered their presence?
And then there are the many questions that still remain about the COVID-19 pandemic and related issues:
– Who authorized the funding of “gain of function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China? Who made the decision to lie to the public about that research and create a bogus story about the virus emerging in a “wet market”? Are there biolabs operated by U.S. personnel in Ukraine? What research is being done there?
– How much did pharmaceutical companies Moderna and Pfizer know about the risks to human health and life posed by their mRNA vaccines?
– Who decided to start a propaganda campaign against the drug ivermectin, and why?
It’s not propaganda to report that ivermectin doesn’t actually work against COVID. Also, the idea of biolabs in Ukraine is actual Russian propaganda, and the idea that Pelosi blocked the National Guard from responding to the Capitol Riot was debunked long ago.
Hollis also fretted about Europe dying because of “immigration” (read: non-white people). From her March 2025 column:
Germany held its Bundestag (parliamentary) elections last weekend. Unsurprisingly, the Social Democrats – currently in control – did abysmally, obtaining only 16.4% of the votes, and thus Chancellor Olaf Scholz is on his way out. The Christian Democrats, led by Friedrich Merz, obtained 28.5% of the votes cast; the largest number but not a majority, which means that Merz’s party will have to form a coalition with one or more of the other parties’ representatives.
Equally unsurprising – at least to anyone paying attention – the Alternative for Germany, or AfD, party, led by Alice Weidel, came in second, with more than 20% of the votes cast. AfD is castigated in the media as “far-right” (intending to evoke the specter of fascism or Nazism), but the cornerstone of AfD’s platform is a safe and prosperous Germany and – most notably – an end to the mass migration that the past few German governments – including Scholz’s and his predecessor, Angela Merkel’s – have permitted, with the blessing of the Brussels Eurocrats.
Germans are beyond frustrated with the levels of migration into their country, particularly from Muslim nations in the Middle East and North Africa, and the corresponding increases in crime and violence. According to a 2024 article from Politico, foreigners are 15% of the population of Germany but account for fully 41% of crimes.
In fact, AfD is called “far-right” because it is, and it is very much Nazi-adjacent. Still, Hollis insisted that Europe will die if extremists like the AfD aren’t elected:
Europe is slowly committing suicide. And yet in country after country, the so-called centrists are scrambling to retain power, to find some way to appease and distract irate citizens, while proceeding merrily along their present path to destruction.
Germans will soon discover what millions of the British and French have realized: that you cannot “moderate” your way back to sanity when the forces aligned against you are hell-bent on your destruction.
European countries have imported millions of people from countries whose values and cultures are completely antithetical to that of Western civilization. Their energy production, economic expansion and agricultural capacity are being throttled by absurd regulations intended to ameliorate “climate change” and fulfill pipe dreams like “net zero” and “15-minute cities.” Their governments fail to protect their own citizens from crime but seem to have no problem accommodating violent and misogynistic conduct by immigrants from other countries.
It always goes back to immigration for people like Hollis — which again, should be read as freaking out over non-white people.
Right-wing groupthink
Hollis used a May 2025 column to hype a Harvard University report on alleged anti-Semitism on campus, then putting her own right-wing spin on it:
The problem at Harvard, the other Ivies and academia in general isn’t anti-Semitism per se; it is Marxism and the mandated groupthink that accompanies it. Watching adherents of the prevailing ideologies in academia is like watching schools of fish; if someone with the correct status decided it was time to promote Israel rather than denounce it, many of today’s most vocal anti-Semites would switch gears in a heartbeat.
Colleges and universities should encourage independent thinking – and many do. But the anti-Semitism, violent protests and other societally corrosive theories and behaviors we’re witnessing are evidence of indoctrination, not education. They are not proof of independent thought but of ideological conformity. At its worst, that conformity is grounded in a belief in the relativity of “truth” and wedded to a sense of moral superiority. That’s why those who fall prey to these tactics are impervious to argument and blind to actual facts; what matters, instead, is adherence to and promotion of the “narrative.”
It explains – at least in part – why so many K-12 teachers seem to be suddenly questioning their gender – and insisting that schoolchildren must question theirs – as well as inserting information about every conceivable sexual practice into the curricula of elementary, middle and high schools. (Parents who discover and oppose these practices and sexually explicit materials often find themselves with little recourse except for litigation. Mahmoud v. Taylor, a case in which Maryland parents are challenging the state’s policies on the use of LGBTQ books in grade school curricula, will be argued before the United States Supreme Court this year.)
Where do these theories arise? In America’s colleges and universities.
Hollis’ immediate leap from anti-Semitism to Marxism tells us she’s as much of a slave to groupthink as those she purports to despise. It’s also weird how she immediately leapt to transgender issues — and baselessly claimed that “so many K-12 teachers seem to be suddenly questioning their gender” — when that particular issue wasn’t even being discussed here. Must be that transphobic groupthink right-wingers engage in, which extends to her support of a Supreme Court case whose ultimate goal is censoring the existence of LGBT people in schools.
She then expanded her right-wing groupthink attack to journalists:
It’s why some of the country’s best-known reporters and journalists now pretend that they didn’t see Joe Biden’s painfully evident cognitive impairment during the 2020 election and precipitous decline throughout the four years of his presidency and aborted campaign for reelection – or blame it on Biden’s inner circle. There was an agenda, and that was to defeat Donald Trump. If that meant lying to the American public and propping up a senile president incapable of performing his duties, so be it.
Most of our media personalities receive their educations at American colleges and universities, where a popular theory is that the role of journalism isn’t to report events but to shape them.
Hollis would never accuse the right-wing media outlets that publish her column (it also appears at Newsmax) of shaping events rather than reporting them. WND, of course, is one of the greatest offenders in pushing partisan narratives instead of actual news — something she’ll never bring up on a column published there. Indeed, we’ve previously caught Hollis using propaganda and lies to rail against non-right-wing media outlets purportedly doing the same.
Another thing Hollis will never bring up: the other report Harvard issued the same day, which noted that more Muslim students than Jewish ones believed they would face academic or professional penalties for expressing political views on campus. But then, being anti-Muslim (and anti-LGBT) is a major part of the right-wing groupthink Hollis doesn’t want you to think she engages in.
Democratic-bashing spree
Hollis has been on a Democrat-bashing tear of late. She claimed in her Aug. 9 column:
Why are the Democrats floundering so badly? There are a number of reasons, all interrelated:
First and foremost, the Democrats have held too much power across too many industries (politics, the media, the entertainment industry, academia) for too long.
As often happens, they abused that power: manipulating the electoral process, weaponizing the justice system to go after political opponents, censoring dissenting voices in traditional and social media, poisoning education and entertainment with “woke” garbage, and lying to the public.
They also co-opted the structure and operations of countless charities and nongovernmental organizations, raking in donations and spending billions of taxpayer dollars to fund policies and programs – at home and abroad – that Americans would not have supported, had there been any public oversight.
They have been protected in all of this by the very people and institutions that should have been holding them accountable and exposing corruption – the press. Our legacy media, however – which also lean leftward – have become so assured of their own moral superiority that they were more than willing to ignore or cheer on violations of America’s most deeply held principles, as long as those violations were committed by Democrats.
Democrats became arrogant and elitist, thinking themselves untouchable.
In 2008, the Democratic Party chose Barack Obama, a man whose past was cloudy – and in some cases, deliberately obscured – as their presidential candidate, and they won. Twice.
Is Hollis still buying into Obama birther conspiracy theories? Sure seems like it. She concluded:
Ironically, Democrats’ current predicament could have been avoided had there been any reasonable checks on their power. As it is, the Democratic Party is collapsing in a cesspool of its own creation.
Hollis did not advocate for any reasonable checks on Donald Trump’s power. Instead, she cheered that Trump “has not only exploited the widespread dissatisfaction conservative Americans had for establishment Republicans; he has left the RINO wing of the GOP (which was, at least at the national level, most of it) politically neutered.”
Hollis went on to huff in her Aug. 16 column:
Law-abiding Americans have to worry about their safety because Democrats’ policies favor criminals, both foreign and domestic.
While Americans are outraged about crimes committed by people here illegally – crimes that include drunk driving, violent assault, rape and murder – Democrats express deep concern about those criminals being sent back to their home countries or to a maximum security prison in El Salvador.
While Americans who own businesses suffer retail theft that costs them (and the country) tens of billions of dollars each year, Democrats like those in California advocate for policies that reduce shoplifting to a misdemeanor and give thieves a slap on the wrist. (And that is if they are prosecuted at all.)
Democrat-controlled legislatures in New York and Illinois enacted laws eliminating cash bail. In some cities (including Washington, D.C.), Democrat prosecutors have bonds set ridiculously low – or refuse to prosecute certain crimes at all. As a result, criminals are back on the street.
Similarly, Americans watch in horror as downtowns in our major cities are destroyed by homelessness, filth and rampant, open drug use. Those situations were created or exacerbated by policies Democrats called “compassionate.”
Across the country, Democrats purport to be incensed about Republicans redrawing congressional districts, even though Democrats have used their political power to gerrymander voting districts to favor Democrat candidates for decades. In Texas, Democratic Party legislators illegally left the state, trying to prevent the legislature from acting. This is apparently something Democrats do when they don’t have a majority; Wisconsin Democrats pulled a similar stunt in 2011.
Hollis didn’t mention that Wisconsin Republicans used the 2011 redistricting to create highly gerrymandered maps.
Hollis mixed Trump-fluffing with her Democrat-bashing in her Aug. 23 column:
There are only a few professions where you can be consistently wrong and hold onto your job. Apparently, being a Democrat is one of them. It’s perhaps less evident when a Democrat is in the White House, because the media will lie and engage in deflective hand-waving to cover up for them on a daily basis. But with Donald Trump as president of the United States, facts blow C-4-sized holes in the American Left’s narratives on a daily basis.

It’s obvious not only that Democrats are wrong about a good many of Trump’s policy initiatives but that they know they’re wrong. They seem to have no economic message, to be defenders of surveillance and multinational corporations, and to be more interested in protecting the “rights” of illegal aliens and criminals than those of American citizens, workers and families.
Hollis threw in even more Trump-fluffing over his alleged peace efforts:
Most recently, Trump hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, seeking an end to the bloody war between Russia and Ukraine. Just days later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Trump at the White House, joined by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen – a gathering that even news organizations like NBC described as “historic” and “a rare display of trans-Atlantic unity.”
It remains to be seen whether Trump will be able to parlay that unity – along with his famous “Art of the Deal” skills – into an actual peace between Putin and Zelenskyy.
Hollis must have been reading WND’s hagiographic Trump-fluffing on the Trump-Putin meeting. Meanwhile, two months later, no change in that conflict can be seen.
