The ConWeb Loves Parents Who Hate Their Transgender Children
WorldNetDaily, Newsmax and the Media Research Center have given platforms to hateful parents who have been blocked from interfering with their child's gender-transition treatment.
As befits the overall homophobia that’s found there, the ConWeb loves to lionize parents who hate their transgender child — and they have fixated on two cases in particular to push the narrative, distorting facts in the process.
The Media Research Center’s chief transphobe, Tierin-Rose Mandelburg, ranted about one of these cases in a Jan. 30 post:
I hate that this isn’t even the first time MRCTV has had to write about a story like this.
Earlier this month, a Wyoming judge fully revoked Todd and Krista Kolstad’s custody of their 14-year-old daughter after Montana Child Protective Services workers transported the child to Wyoming to treat her for “gender dysphoria.” So now the child has been kidnapped, is on a path of poor mental health and utter delusion and her parents can’t even do anything about it.
Back in April 2023, the Montana legislature, where the Kolstad family resides, passed State Bill 99 which bans the medical transition of minors suffering from “gender dysphoria.” A few months later in August of 2023, the child ended up in the hospital after struggling with bullying and anxiety. Police informed the Kolstad parents that their daughter was suicidal and that a text message indicated that she’d ingested “drain cleaner” and lots of “ibuprofen,” The Gateway Pundit reported Tuesday.
Apparently when the child ended up in the hospital, her toxicology report came back clean. But while there, the girl began asking hospital staff to call her “Leo” and use male pronouns. The staff, despite the objections from the Kolstads, obliged and continued calling the young girl by her name of choice.
“The hospital continued to call our daughter Leo, even though she’s a minor, and after I stated it’s against our wishes, our religion, and our core family values, the hospital told me to call their lawyer if I have an issue, as they will do what the patient tells them,” Mrs. Kolstad said in a video about the situation.
To make matters worse, a non-binary hospital aide talked to “Leo” about top surgery. Though this appeared to be a breach of State Bill 99, the hospital insisted that they were working within a “gray area” as they hadn’t given the child any hormones or surgeries, just encouraged it.
Yes, Mandelburg is taking the word of the far-right, completely discredited Gateway Pundit, presenting it as a credible source while ignoring that, at the time, it was being sued by two Georgia election workers for falsely accusing them of adding election ballots from a suitcase.
Mandelburg added that “‘Montana CPS and hospital staff consistently dismissed the Kolstads’ concerns and authority as parents,’ The Gateway Pundit indicated in its report.” In fact, state officials debunked the Kolstads’ entire biased and hateful narrative, led by Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte, to whom the MRC had previously given a pass for assaulting a reporter:
In his Monday posts on X, Gianforte confirmed that his office has reviewed the matter and, without describing the case in detail, said the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, or DPHHS, acted correctly in taking the child into protective custody.
“To give them their best shot at reaching their full potential, children deserve to grow up in happy, healthy homes with loving families. Sadly, this ideal is not always realized,” the thread said. “… Upon hearing recent allegations related to a child welfare case, I asked Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras — an experienced attorney, constitutional conservative, mother, and grandmother — to review it. Consulting with the director of DPHHS and personally examining case documents, Lieutenant Governor Juras has concluded that DPHHS and the court have followed state policy and law in their handling of this tragic case. I have asked the lieutenant governor to continue monitoring the case as it progresses.”
In a later statement, the governor’s spokesperson Kaitlin Price clarified that “broadly speaking, the state does not remove minors from homes to provide gender transition services or use taxpayer funds to pay for those services while a minor is in the custody of the state.”
Price also said the governor has asked the state health department to “codify a formal policy and/or develop a regulation to clarify and ensure the definition of abuse or neglect does not include a parent’s right to refuse to provide gender transition services to his or her minor child.”
The Kolstads’ insistence on running to right-wing media to spew anti-transgender narratives violated confidentiality orders; the judge in the case noted the “unlikelihood of self-reflection and self-accountability or repentance by either father or stepmother.” The parents also refused to permit the state to send the child to an out-of-state facility for treatment of suicidal thoughts, which tells us that they are putting politics ahead of their child’s well-being.
Further, contrary to Mandelburg’s suggestion, “State Bill 99” — actually Senate Bill 99 — is not current law; it has been blocked from taking effect because it’s discriminatory and tramples on privacy rights, so it was irrelevant for Mandelburg to bring up.
Rather then telling her readers the full story, Mandelburg would trust a discredited website because it hates transgender people as much as she does. That doesn’t exactly make people want to trust anything else the MRC publishes.
Mandelburg offered an update a few days later:
A shocking new update has come out about the Kolstad family’s legal battle to get their daughter back.
Last week, MRCTV reported on the Kolstad family’s heartbreaking situation. As a refresher, Krista and Todd Kolstad lost custody of their daughter Jennifer (who’s name has been changed out of privacy) after she was removed from their home due to the fact that they wouldn’t help her transition into a boy. The Kolstads have been fighting to get their daughter back and out of harm’s way from the transgender regime, but have had no luck so far. In the latest update, the Kolstads have been told that if they continue fighting for their daughter, they’ll face “imminent arrest,” Reduxx reported.
After the Kolstad’s brought their case before a court, a judge ordered them to keep quiet about the situation by issuing a gag order. Obviously the Kolstads refused to keep quiet and allow leftist child abusers to continue helping their child transition. The family posted a video on social media begging for help “and spoke to press regardless out of concern over what was happening to their family,” Reduxx indicated. Now they’re at risk of arrest after speaking out.
To make matters worse, Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte has been siding with Child Protective Services in their removal of Jennifer. Travis Hall, the governor’s senior advisor, shared posts on social media claiming that the Kolstads were abusive parents. Apparently it’s abusive to not permit your child from going down a life threatening path of delusion.
Mandelburg seems not to understand that violating a legal court order to not speak publicly about the case has consequences. And it should alert Mandelburg that even the staunchly Republican Idaho governor is supporting law and order amply demonstrate the Kolstads’ wrongness here. Indeed, court officials found that the Kolstads’ insistence on running to right-wing media to spew anti-transgender narratives showed the “unlikelihood of self-reflection and self-accountability or repentance by either father or stepmother.” So destructive were the Kolstads to their child, in fact, that they refused to permit the state to send the child to an out-of-state facility for treatment of suicidal thoughts — which further tells us that they are putting politics ahead of their child’s well-being.
But Mandelburg ignored the truth and portrayed the hateful, publicity-seeking parents as the real victims: “It’s heartbreaking to hear that another child is being abused, not by her parents, but by the leftists who insist that transitioning a child is helpful. They’re the abusers, not the Kolstads.”
In a February 2024 WorldNetDaily column filled with transphobia and fearmongering, Michael Brown latched onto the same case:
And what happens to a trans-identified minor child who makes his or her way to one of these sanctuary states seeking trans-related care, against their parents’ wishes? Does the sanctuary state now have legal authority over that child? Do the parents have a way to get their child back?
These are some of the very real, contemporary legal debates.
[…]
A CFS caseworker came to speak with the teen and inspect the house where Jennifer claimed she drank toilet bowl cleaner and took painkillers in an attempt to take her own life, the outlet reported.
“The teen reportedly showed no related symptoms, and a test at the hospital showed she didn’t consume any toxins.
“But her hospital stay stretched to multiple days, in which staff there noted that Jennifer identified as male and wanted to be called Leo. The parents said they quickly but unsuccessfully objected.
“‘We were very clear to the emergency room staff as well as [CFS] that this goes against our values, morals and our religious beliefs,’ [mother] Krista Kolstad recalled to Reduxx, accusing the hospital of consistently undermining her and her husband’s authority.”
Brown censored the fact that Kolstad’s insistence on running to right-wing media to spew anti-transgender narratives violated confidentiality orders and refused to permit the state to send the child to an out-of-state facility for treatment of suicidal thoughts, which demonstrates that they are putting hateful politics ahead of their child’s well-being.
Newsmax joined the transphobic propaganda parade in a May 23 article by Nicole Wells:
A couple in Montana who say they lost custody of their 14-year-old daughter after opposing a gender transition filed a lawsuit alleging the teen was removed from their care without a warrant.
The Daily Montanan reported that Todd and Krista Kolstad, the girl’s father and stepmother, filed a federal suit against the state’s Child Protective Services this week, claiming that social workers took their child without getting a judge to authorize a warrant.
The Kolstads also allege that their civil rights were violated and their religious freedoms were ignored when the state placed their daughter in a psychiatric facility in Wyoming instead of Montana. State authorities then barred them from communicating with the teen, they said.
The chain of events began last year, when the Kolstads said their daughter, identified as “H.K.” in court documents, told them that she identifies as transgender and wanted to transition to a male.
The couple said they refused to grant the teen’s request because they hold strong religious beliefs.
H.K. was reportedly admitted to a hospital last summer for inpatient psychiatric care after claiming to have ingested a mixture of ibuprofen and toilet bowl cleaner. State officials said at the time that they were justified in removing H.K. from the Kolstads’ home due to concerns about the risk of suicide.
[…]
The Kolstads say they were supportive of psychiatric care for H.K. but wanted a placement in Montana because they feared the transition process might be started out of state against their wishes.
[…]
The state initially sent H.K. to a Wyoming facility and later to a group home in Billings, Montana, before she went to live with her mother in Canada.
Montana Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte directed Lt. Gov. Kristen Juras to review the case earlier this year after public concern was raised when the Kolstads took their case to the media.
According to the New York Post, Juras’ investigation found that “the court have followed state policy and law in their handling of this tragic case” and Gianforte supported the social workers.
Wells failed to tell her readers the Kolstads’ insistence on running to right-wing media to spew anti-transgender narratives violated confidentiality orders and that they refused to permit the state to send the child to an out-of-state facility for treatment of suicidal thoughts. In this context, the Kolstads claiming “strong religious beliefs” is just a code word for hating anyone who’s not heterosexual.
The Kolstads are publicly tormenting their child because they so vehemently hate transgender people — and, thus, their own child. Wells isn’t interested in pointing out that part of the story.
Another angry, hateful father
Around the same time, the ConWeb latched onto a similar involving a transgender child and a parent with an agenda. Mandelburg touted it in an April 15 post:
California mom Anne Georgulas is petitioning state courts to let her get chemically-castrating puberty blockers for her 11-year-old biological son James, to help him with his “transition” to a female. The boy’s father, Jeff Younger, is fighting hard against the chemical castration of his son, and currently does not have custody of either of his kids, all because he doesn’t want his son to undergo harmful, life-changing and risky trans procedures.
This case has been developing for years, and on April 25, “court-ordained transgender ‘experts’ [are set to] take the stand” to convince the court that it should side with Georgulas, The Dallas Express reported over the weekend.
Little James’ mother started his transition when he was just two years old, and his school helped out. After the couple split, Younger said he would put James in little boys’ clothes to send him to school, and then the school would change him into girl clothes per his mother’s wishes. This obviously upset the father, who said his wife was clearly manipulating their young son into believing he was a girl.
The divorced couple, who both lived in Texas at the time, began fighting for custody over James and his twin sibling, and Georgulas fled to California with the kids. In 2022, Younger petitioned the Texas Supreme Court to force the return of his children, but in December 2022, the court rejected the petition, and the kids are still in California with their mother.
“My case is proof that the statutory design of the Texas Family Courts is abusive of the liberty of Texas citizens,” Younger wrote in a text message to The Dallas Express. “The family courts are a clear and present danger to the welfare of Texas children. Judge ‘Bloody’ Mary Brown, 301st District Court, stripped me of parental rights without possibility of appeal, just because I want to raise my son as a boy.”
Like the Kolstads, Younger is violating a confidentiality court order by running to right-wing media to peddle his narrative. Further, Younger lost custody of the twins after refusing to pay child support — not because he “raise my son as a boy,” as Mandelburg credulously parroted — with full custody given to the mother, and the mother has accused Younger of “emotionally abusive” behavior. Rather than acknowledging Younger’s violation of legal court orders or that he has effectively relinquished control over the child through his refusal to pay child support, Mandelburg cheered Younger trying to politically profit off his abusive behavior toward his child:
Younger has been vocal in asking for support in his fight to keep his son healthy and out of harm’s way. He recently appeared on Unfiltered with Blaze TV where he shared the full story, urging people to go to his Facebook page called Help Save James which amasses over 41,000 followers for daily updates on the case.
He also insisted he needs help to “save my son” and made a Give Send Go account to collect donations to help cover the legal fees of the case.
It’s heartbreaking to hear about little James’ life being put at risk throughout this story, and it’s even more heartbreaking to realize that stories like James’ aren’t even that rare anymore because of how pro-trans and anti-child safety our nation has become.
Endorsing Younger’s partisan emotional manipulation should make one fear for any child Mandelburg might have in the future.
WND published a Nov. 23 article on the case by Jim Hoft of the notoriously unreliable far-right Gateway Pundit:
A California judge has permanently stripped Texas father Jeffrey Younger of all parental rights to his twin sons, James and Jude, granting Younger’s ex-wife, Anne Georgulas, the authority to chemically and surgically transition their 12-year-old son, James, against his father’s wishes.
Younger, whose ex-wife, a pediatrician, began transitioning their son to a girl at just two and a half years old, has fought tooth and nail to protect his child. Despite video evidence supporting his concerns, courts in Texas and California have systematically stripped him of his parental rights.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that a video of James Younger when he was only 3 years old surfaced, revealing that his mother put dresses on him and painted his fingernails when the child was just an infant!
The abuse from the mother all started because James liked a toy from the movie ‘Frozen’ meant for little girls. It is totally normal for little boys to play with girls’ toys; it does not mean they want to be castrated and ‘transition’ into girls.
Like Mandelburg, Hoft censored facts that make Younger look more accurately like the jerk he is: He lost custody of the twins after refusing to pay child support — not because of opposition to transitioning his child — with full custody given to the mother, and the mother has accused Younger of “emotionally abusive” behavior.
Hoft made no attempt to get the mother’s side of the story. He also reprinted a social media post by Younger complaining that “I lost all parental rights to my sons” while censoring the fact the custody was stripped because he stopped paying child support and is violating a court-imposed gag order. Hoft also offers no reason Younger’s version of events should be trusted given his clear hostility toward his ex-wife.
Robert Knight referenced the case in his Dec. 10 WND column:
Some things are beyond even a parent’s prerogative, such as committing child abuse. But all too often, insanity prevails.
A case in point: A California judge ruled in November against a Texas father, granting his estranged, pediatrician wife the authority to castrate their 12-year-old son James, whom she calls “Luna.”
The mother calls it “gender affirming care.” When language is altered to advance a desired outcome, you can bet evil is afoot. Many mainstream organizations, including corporations, colleges and even the American Academy of Pediatrics, have bought into the madness.
One could argue that Younger’s actions in hating his child and denigrating the mother borders on child abuse.
Knight concluded by likening doctors to perform gender transition surgery to Nazis.
MRC defames mother
Justine Brooke Murray, the MRC’s replacement for Mandelburg on the transphobia beat, began Jan. 30 post with a defamatory rant that was uncritical — and factually deficient — stenography of Younger’s self-serving narrative:
How scary to think that up until now, civilized society allowed pseudo-doctors to chemically castrate and sexually mutilate children in the name of a cult-like ideology.
It’s a barbaric practice widely condemned by the West when it’s carried out by the backward societies of the Middle East that remain stuck in the 7th century. But when our own children become the victims of that same barbarism, our virtue-signaling pop culture has not only normalized but encouraged the act in the name of “gender affirming care.”
Now that common sense is back in the White House, President Donald Trump put a stop to the Frankenstien-like [sic] procedures.
So enraged was Murray that she didn’t bother to spell-check her rant before posting it. That was the introduction to this:
On Tuesday, he signed an executive order banning self-serving medical professionals from “maiming and sterilizing” “impressionable” minors under 19, “under the radical and false claim” they “can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions.”
It’s a move that, according to one Texas father, has just saved his son’s life.
Jeff Younger, a father of twin boys, has endured a years-long battle to stop his psychotic ex-wife from castrating his now-12-year-old son, James on the claim he’s a “transgender” girl named Luna.
Sounds like Murray might want to consult her attorney about her defamatory smear of the woman as “psychotic.” Nevertheless, she continued:
The sad saga began on the twins’ birthday, according to the Washington Post, when their mother, Ann Georgulas insisted James wanted to be a girl.
Why? She apparently noticed he liked to try on princess costumes from the Disney movie, Frozen. Therefore, she decided he must immediately be “affirmed” by an activist-therapist who convinced her to paint the toddler’s nails and send him to school in dresses by the time he reached 5.
Still, whenever the twins stayed with Younger, who had already divorced Georgulas and was granted little visitation time, the father claimed James was comfortable as a boy.
Georgulas responded by filing a restraining order against the father in 2018 to prevent him from entering the twins’ school or telling other parents or students that James is anything “different than a girl named Luna,” which is how she registered him in Kindergarten.
Texas had initially allowed Younger equal custody of his children, according to the New York Post, but eventually stripped him of all custody in 2021.
Since the state still required Georgulas to get the father’s consent before medically “transitioning” their child, however, she took both kids and fled to California where she could mutilate James freely.
Ooh, more defamation! Georgulas’ lawyers must be happy that Murray is making discovery easy for them. On top of failing to spell-check, Murray couldn’t be bothered to fact-check her work either. Shes made the rookie mistake of trusting the misleading words of a vengeful, hate-filled father, censoring the fact that Younger lost custody because he has failed to pay child support, not over the transitioning issue. The fact that Younger also violated a court-imposed gag order by being so aggressively public about the case, posting pictures of the child online and defaming the mother also went ignored by Murray — who added a photo of the child to her post seemingly in violation of that court order. It seems that she is also complicit with Younger in violating that court order. It seems she might to have a chat with her lawyer about that as well as the defamation stuff. Nevertheless, Murray reprinted his bogus sob story:
“I lost all parental rights to my sons. Goodbye, boys. Perhaps, we will meet when you are adults,” responded Younger in a heartbreaking social media post, lamenting the decision by a California judge to let his ex-wife chemically castrate James.
Murray concluded: “Now that it’s officially child abuse under federal law, the devastated father may now have a chance to finally reunite with both of his sons and rescue James before it’s too late.” She might want to have a chat with her lawyer before it’s too late so she can address her rampant defamation.
