Blowing The Whistle On Bad, Hateful Journalism, Part 6
Key to David Kupelian's attacks on non-right-wingers through WorldNetDaily's sparsely read Whistleblower magazine is a cartoonish demonization narrative.
(Previously: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5)
ConWebWatch has shown how WorldNetDaily uses its sparsely read Whistleblower magazine to attack anyone who’s not as far-right as it is with various epithets — as not merely being wrong, but also evil, and even portraying anyone even slightly to their left as communists. For the December 2023 issue, it was all about smearing them as Satan’s minions:
Democrat [sic] politicians today overwhelmingly favor late-term abortion up to the very moment of birth – formerly known as “infanticide.” They encourage children too young to drive or vote to have their breasts and/or sex organs amputated in pursuit of a “gender transition” that is both delusional and impossible, and which leads to staggering rates of depression and suicide. This same mass hysteria likewise leads them to promote the de facto
destruction of women’s athletics worldwide by allowing men to compete with women, and to permit countless females to be raped in prison by male inmates claiming to be “trans women.”
Meanwhile, the Democrats and their standard bearer, President Joe Biden – a senile, pathologically dishonest and epically corrupt career political hack – are destroying America’s economy, energy sector, military, law enforcement, election integrity, national security, Constitution and overall national wellbeing as rapidly as possible. At the same time, Team Biden demonizes – and increasingly, imprisons – critics as “violent extremists,” “domestic terrorists,” “white supremacists” and “insurrectionists.” Indeed, they are engaged in an obviously corrupt multi-front legal war against Biden’s chief political rival, Donald J. Trump, in an attempt to send the 45th president of the United States to prison for the rest of his life.
None of this constitutes “politics” in any conventional or traditional American sense. Rather, it is all darkly spiritual – which is simply to say, evil. The United States of America is in the throes of a full-blown spiritual war between good and evil.
Indeed, the most contentious issues vexing the nation today are not political nor even ideological. The aforementioned gender hysteria, which reportedly has seduced more than 300,000 American youths aged 13-17 to “identify as transgender,” is neither “liberal” nor “conservative.” It’s evil and insane. Same with purposely leaving the nation’s southern border wide open and not only inviting, but intentionally engineering a full-scale and massive foreign invasion of America – including masses of young, single men from terrorist-hotbed countries. Same with Marxist ideology (“critical race theory”) disguised as “anti-racism.” And plying America’s school children with hard-core pornography. And establishing “After School Satan Clubs” in public schools throughout the nation. And corrupting innocent toddlers by forcing them to sit at the feet of mentally ill, demonically possessed men dressed as women for “drag queen story hour” events.
All of this and so much more constitutes genuine spiritual warfare – good versus evil, freedom versus slavery, heaven versus hell, God versus Satan.
David Kupelian’s essay for the issue, published at WND on Dec. 21, wrapped his Satanist smear with his Marxist smear:
There is an important message in all of this for decent Americans who realize their great country – from its government to its culture to its educational system to even many of its businesses – has been seriously infected with the spiritual cancer of Marxism. And it is this:
To save their country, in addition to all the obvious concrete steps like electing Donald Trump as president next November, closing the border and initiating mass deportations of illegals, re-opening America’s energy sector, stopping the insane mass mutilation of America’s children, expelling “woke” madness from America’s military, and more – all of which Trump promises to put into motion immediately if re-elected president – something else is required.
For even though America is still full of tens of millions of the most decent and soulful people on earth, their nation as a whole desperately needs a spiritual and cultural rebirth. It needs to re-embrace Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “dream” of a truly color-blind meritocracy, where no one is “judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
But even deeper still, America needs to experience a true, deep and heartfelt revival, a rebirth of reverence for God and His ways and His commandments and His Son and His plan of salvation. Of loving one’s neighbor, and even one’s enemies. Of faith and forgiveness and sacrifice and humility and sincere repentance, and all the other Christian virtues.
Including courage. Yes, Americans need to rediscover the courage to speak the truth in love, which encourages and strengthens other good people, driving out fear and confusion and hopelessness. And having done so, to get down on their knees and pray fervently that a great and merciful God would spare their troubled and corrupted land, awaken its sleep-walking citizens, and breathe His redeeming life into their beloved country once again.
Given how often we catch WND spreading lies and misleading readers, Kupelian is the last person who should be pontificating about “truth,” since he clearly does not have the courage to speak truth if it contradicts his far-right ideology.
‘Inciting Violence’
Another iteration of Kupelian’s cartoonish narrative appeared in the January 2024 issue, beginning with loads of Capitol riot revisionism:
In the secret thinking of America’s ruling elites, dominated as they are by today’s ever-more deranged and totalitarian Democratic Party, absolutely nothing is more valuable, indispensable and life-giving to their great cause than the Jan. 6, 2021 “armed insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol.
It’s irrelevant to them that the events didn’t come remotely close to constituting an actual “insurrection” by any legal or historical definition, nor was a single demonstrator inside the Capitol armed with a firearm.
Rather, what has become clear over the last three years is that a group of Trump supporters, convinced for very good reason that the recent election – and therefore their country – had just been stolen from them, gathered outside the Capitol to protest. Also in the crowd, it turns out, were a large number of undercover FBI assets, informants and agent provocateurs – at least 200, according to House Homeland Security Committee member Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana, who has seen all the evidence. Some of these “undercover assets,” reveals Higgins, were dressed up as Trump supporters and positioned within the Capitol building before any demonstrators were allowed in. Proof, says Higgins, of epic “entrapment” by the Deep State, since the FBI could have just left the Capitol doors shut instead of opening them wide and waving in Trump supporters, hundreds of whom would later be arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned.
When the protesters were allowed inside, most proceeded to mill around the U.S. Capitol like tourists, take pictures, some even shaking hands with police, thanking them and praying for them – all captured on long-suppressed surveillance video. A small minority broke windows, damaged property, clashed with police or trespassed into no-go areas. One protester, an unarmed Air Force veteran named Ashli Babbitt, was shot to death at close range and without provocation by a Capitol Hill policeman.
And yet, speaking for the Biden administration, Vice President Kamala Harris insisted with great pomp and solemnity that the minor riot that broke out on Jan. 6, 2021 was every bit as cataclysmic for the country as the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks that killed almost 3,000 innocent people and toppled the World Trade Center, as well as the Dec. 7, 1941 Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that took over 2,400 American lives and thrust the U.S. into World War II.
Disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok went even further than Harris, insisting, “9/11 is NOTHING compared to January 6!”
Obviously, the Jan. 6 “insurrection” is exceedingly precious to the ruling elites. The question is WHY?
It’s not just because convicting, imprisoning, sometimes torturing and destroying the lives of hundreds of supporters of Donald Trump is meant to terrify and intimidate into submission tens of millions of pro-Trump Americans. Indeed, many of these people did nothing wrong; one young man is just now being prosecuted three years later for having harmlessly ventured inside the Capitol building for a total of 6 seconds!
That 6-second claim comes from WND columnist Jack Cashill, who omitted that there’s also a picture of the protester in question hanging on scaffolding outside the Capitol building, suggesting his motives may not have been quite as benign as Cashill and WND want us to think. The conspiracy then moved to a combination of racist replacement theory and transphobia:
These same ruling elites that cherish Jan. 6 are rapidly destroying the greatest, freest and most successful nation in world history. They’re intentionally flooding the nation with millions of illegal alien invaders, including mental patients, criminals and terrorists. They’re indoctrinating the next generation of Americans with poisonous Marxist ideologies, from preschool to graduate school. They’re driving violent crime rates to astronomical highs. They’re decimating the economy, crippling major industries from energy to automotive, and driving millions of families into serious financial hardship. And of course, they’re encouraging the grooming and recruitment of countless children too young to vote or drive, to have their breasts or sexual organs amputated, all in pursuit of a “gender ideology” that is both deranged and demonic.
To hold on to power, therefore, they feel compelled to turn their opponents into monsters – or at least convincingly portray them as such. Otherwise, they’ll almost certainly lose when voters who have suffered so grievously under their perverse rule have the opportunity to choose a different course.
This all leads up to the theme of the issue: “INCITING VIOLENCE: DEMS’ SECRET STRATEGY FOR STAYING IN POWER.” The accompanying essay by Kupelian, published at WND on Jan. 22, peddled more revisionism:
“It seems likely that government officials were involved in planting pipe bombs in Washington, D.C. three years ago,” Tucker Carlson declared recently, “as part of an effort to keep Donald Trump from running for president again.” The surveillance video demonstrating the pipe bomb charade, narrated by Revolver News’ Darren Beattie during his interview with Carlson, is both damning and jaw-dropping.
At the same time, it now turns out that the famed “House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack,” run entirely by Trump-hating Democrats – and which throughout much of the Biden presidency has labored to advance the narrative that Donald Trump led a revolutionary attempt to violently overthrow the U.S. Government – “deleted more than 100 encrypted files from its probe in the days before Republicans took over the House majority,” the Daily Mail reported.
Oh. And why would they do that? What exactly was the “House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack” trying to hide?
Answer: EVERYTHING.
For in the secret thinking of America’s ruling elites, absolutely nothing is more precious, indispensable and life-giving to their great cause than the Jan. 6 “armed insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol.
It’s completely irrelevant to them that the events didn’t come remotely close to constituting an actual “insurrection” by any legal or historical definition, nor was a single demonstrator inside the Capitol armed with a gun.
They did, however, have bear spray and other chemical irritants, stun guns stolen from law enforcement, fire extinguishers and other means of violence. Funny how Kupelian didn’t mention any of that. Nevertheless, he continued to build his conspiracy:
Question: What if, far from being horrified by a half-baked riot they absurdly claim is worse than any domestic conflict since the Civil War, the left actually loves the idea of violence on the right – the worse the better – since it perfectly serves their agenda?
Increasingly, the evidence strongly suggests today’s power-mad leftist elites not only intend to intimidate and discredit their political opponents by calling them terrorists, they mean to provoke actual violence.
[…]
The harsh truth is, the leftist elites are delighted with any riot, vandalism or demonstration they can cynically label “terrorism” and “insurrection.” It serves their purposes. That’s why House Speaker Nancy Pelosi perversely refused to approve President Trump’s specific request for a major National Guard presence at the Capitol that day. Tucker Carlson recently called the whole Jan. 6 riot “a set-up.”
Kupelian is lying. Even if Trump had made a request for National Guard troops — which he didn’t— it was not Pelosi’s job to approve them. He then switched to complaining about Trump-Nazi references:
This writer has previously documented how, throughout Trump’s four years in the White House, Democrats and the media relentlessly likened the 45th U.S. president to Hitler. This reckless defamation continues to this day. In the Dec. 20 edition of The New Republic, an article headlined “Trump Is Going All In on the Hitler Vibes” once again openly compares America’s 45th president to the Nazi mass murderer:
[…]
Then on Jan. 6, 2024 – the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 riot – Biden himself, in a major speech delivered near historic Valley Forge, went there again, likening Trump to Hitler:
“He calls those who oppose him ‘vermin.’ He talks about the blood of America as being poisoned, echoing the same exact language used in Nazi Germany,” said Biden. “He posts the words that describe his 2024 campaign: revenge, power and dictatorship. There’s no confusion about who Trump is.”
Unfortunately, repeatedly likening your top political opponent to the genocidal monster Adolf Hitler is not just absurd; it carries great peril. After all, most people agree that the most moral and patriotic response to the actual Hitler was to try to kill him, to end a terrible war and stop the murder of 6 million Jews and countless others. There were 16 known plots to assassinate Hitler, and even though all of them failed, the perpetrators and collaborators, all executed by the Nazis – from Col. Klaus von Stauffenberg to the revered German theologian Deitrich Bonhoeffer – are today universally considered heroes.
Kupelian conveniently failed to disclose that he’s an massive hypocrite about this — his website has an extensive record of likening Barack Obama to Nazis, and a few months before this issue came out, his boss, Joseph Farah wrote a column declaring of President Biden, “There’s a Nazi living in the White House.” If Kupelian was truly offended by such comparisons, he would issue a full apology and retractions for WND’s smears of Obama and Biden. But he won’t — the narrative matters more to him than the truth, and he clearly believes that the most moral and patriotic response to Obama and Biden is for them to die by whatever means.
Kupelian concluded by admitting that this is all about attacking “the left” yet again:
What is cryptically called “the left” has grown so rebellious against God, truth, morality and reality that it feels compelled to put out the light, to silence voices of truth, to “call evil good, and good evil” as the prophet Isaiah put it.
Americans are truly living through a time when the most decent, honest and courageous people are, as the Savior of mankind put it, being “persecuted for righteousness’ sake.”
With 2024 promising to be such an extraordinarily consequential year, there’s never been a better time for good people to let their light brightly shine into the oncoming darkness.
But Kupelian is not a good person, and he’s not offering “light.” All he has are lies, hypocrisy and conspiracy theories — the stuff of political and moral darkness.
‘It’s Trump vs. the Swamp Psychopaths’
The March 2024 issue of the magazine took the next step, with the theme “It’s Trump vs. the Swamp Psychopaths.” It was promoted by laughably insisting that smearing people who don’t slavishly follow the same far-right ideology Kupelian and crew do is not viciously partisan at all but a “serious” exercise:
“That’s crazy! Our leaders must be insane!”
That’s basically how most Americans react to much of what they see going on around them every single day.
From the Biden administration’s enthusiastic support for amputating body parts of troubled children, to its obsession with bringing as many millions of illegal aliens as possible into America, to its recent demand that U.S. airlines employ more people, including pilots, with “severe intellectual” and “psychiatric” problems, it’s increasingly clear that many of America’s current leaders are, to put it plainly, stark raving mad.
But making this statement is not an exercise in calling one’s political opponents nasty names, as happens so often today.
Rather, it’s about taking a serious look at the reality that America’s current leaders are indeed genuinely insane – in a clinically diagnosable way. We’re talking about rampant sociopathy, psychopathy, Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder and other scary-sounding conditions whose clinical symptom-pictures perfectly match many of today’s leaders.
Of course, many cases of what the secular psychiatric world labels serious “mental illness” ultimately boil down to individuals who, one way or another, willingly or unwillingly, have fallen into the grip of dark spiritual forces.
One could say that Kupelian’s employer continuing to follow its well-worn editorial path of fake news and conspiracy theories even though doing so has cost it much of its revenue is a sign of sociopathy. But self-reflection is not the point here — projection is. The piece went on to claim:
Yet it’s illuminating to briefly explore how current research in psychiatry – a field ironically dominated largely by the left – nevertheless has concluded that leftist radicals and leaders are, more often than not, “way out there” on the spectrum of serious mental illness.
For example, in a groundbreaking peer-reviewed study published in March 2023, titled “Understanding left-wing authoritarianism: Relations to the dark personality traits, altruism, and social justice commitment,” authors Dr. Ann Krispenz and Dr. Alexander Bertrams found that left-wing extremism is closely associated with “psychopathic tendencies.”
“Narcissistic individuals and those with psychopathic tendencies are more likely to strongly endorse left-wing antihierarchical aggression,” summarized the widely cited PsyPost website, which reports the latest research on human behavior.
Unsurprisingly, WND promoted this study when it came out last year. In a side note, the promotional article concluded with this “important note” about skipping an issue:
Important note: Although last month’s Whistleblower issue was dated “January,” we are labeling this issue “March” simply to catch up – that is, to better align each Whistleblower issue’s date with when print subscribers actually receive their magazines in the mail. So, while there’s no issue dated “February,” subscribers will still receive a full 12 editions with their one-year subscription. Thanks for your understanding!
Kupelian’s essay for the issue, published at WND on March 4, hypocritically rehashed old complaints that Donald Trump was unfavorably likened to Nazis:
Of course, it’s this same “conservatives are evil” belief that underlies the left’s continual and epically deranged comparison of President Donald Trump with Adolf Hitler, hands-down the most reviled, genocidal mass murderer in world history. Yet top Democrat politicians including Joe Biden – as well as the “mainstream” media – have continually likened Trump to Hitler since before he was elected president in 2016 and continuing to today, eight years later.
Yet if Trump really is another Hitler, where exactly are all of his Hitler-like policies and actions? After all, the man was president of the United States and leader of the free world for four extremely important years. So, what are all these evil practices that justify such a comparison?
In reality, of course, Trump’s policies were right in line with the values and sensibilities of the vast, center-right American middle class that has long constituted this nation’s moral, economic and spiritual backbone. America’s economy was stable and strong under Trump, unemployment was at historic lows, perverse trade agreements were replaced with fair, pro-American ones, border enforcement was a priority, America’s military was being rebuilt, and the world was free of major wars due to Trump’s personal strength and leadership.
Needless to say, Kupelian forgot to mention how enthusiastically his employer likened Barack Obama to various Nazis, or that his boss, Joseph Farah, made the same comparison about President Biden.
Kupelian then rehashed old smears by armchair psychologists about Obama:
Let’s rewind a few years and briefly focus on Barack Obama, since much of today’s societal madness began or accelerated because of him, and a great many people believe Obama is calling the shots in Washington, D.C. today. And of course, Obama’s wife Michelle is increasingly considered a top contender for becoming the Democrats’ presidential candidate later this year.
Many Americans believe, and some widely respected voices have said so publicly, that Barack Obama is a “sociopath” or “psychopath.” (For the record, though numerous psychology articles attempt to differentiate between “sociopathy” and “psychopathy,” in the end the analysis always boils down to the two being essentially the same, with “psychopaths” just being a little worse than “sociopaths.”) In 2016, Dr. Ben Carson referred to Obama on camera as a “psychopath.” The aforementioned columnist-author Charles Krauthammer, a psychiatrist by training, dubbed Obama a “narcissist” who “talks like the emperor, Napoleon.” Pulitzer prize-winning columnist George Will wrote about “Barack Obama’s intellectual sociopathy.” And so on.
[…]
During the Obama administration, this writer communicated frequently with veteran forensic psychiatrist Lyle Rossiter, M.D., who suggested a slightly different diagnosis for Obama, but similar to “sociopathy” – namely, “Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder.” The modifier “malignant” signified the version of “Narcissistic Personality Disorder” that may cross over into criminality, he explained.
Rossiter, who has since passed away, had been retained as an expert in more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases and was a genuine world-class authority in forensic psychiatry, which is the intersection between criminal behavior and mental disorders. He carefully reviewed with me a list of some of the major symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, comparing them with Obama’s behavior as president. Here are a few of the key markers: 1) a grandiose view of one’s achievements (everything with Obama was “historic”), 2) an utter inability to handle criticism (everyone criticizing Obama or his policies was attacked as an “extremist” or “racist”), and 3) lack of genuine empathy.
As ConWebWatch has documented, Rossiter had a habit of taking Obama statements out of context to justify his smears. Kupelian, of course, has no interest in examining Trump’s psyche, even though he has been credibly accused of having sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies. This is all about projection, not self-reflection, remember?
